Every employee and contractor shares the responsibility and is accountable for the safety at Pipeworx Ltd. This internal responsibility framework begins with clear definition of roles and responsibilities in relation to health and safety performance within the organization.
Ultimately everyone is considered a health and safety leader within Pipeworx. Health and Safety performance is not a standalone entity; however it is integrated into our day-to-day activities and is a core value within the organization. Through the promotion of H&S and by holding people accountable for their individual performance, everyone is able to work towards a common goal of superior H&S performance at Pipeworx.
Each and every one of us should strive to attain this important GOAL for the Company we love and work for each and every day. The Internal Responsibility System (IRS) is a health and safety philosophy based on the principle that every individual in the workplace is responsible for health and safety. It includes the executives, management and workers. As such the success of the IRS depends on the effective partnership between the workplace parties to create a safe and healthy workplace.
“Workplace parties” is a term that refers to the persons who are considered an Employer, Supervisor, Worker and Contractor or Subcontractor. Basically it refers to all persons who enter a workplace for whatever reason.
Employers are responsible for: Making workers aware of hazards, Establishing a Health & Safety Program.
Supervisors are responsible for: Making workers aware of hazards, Ensuring they work safely, Responding to any hazards brought to their attention.
Worker responsibilities include but not limited to: Reports hazards, Work safely, Participate in health & safety. Etc.
H&S Representatives or JHSC play a role by being the objective influence on health & safety issues.
Where do you see yourself fit in? Are you clearly aware of the plans, capable of recognizing and implementing them? Do you have knowledge of the equipment you are operation and the procedure to complete the work safely? This is the right TIME my friend.
