As legislation varies in different countries, provinces, and states, and in order to maintain compliance with the different regulations, Pipeworx and its associated projects will adopt the Canadian Provincial Acts and Regulations, the Worker’s Compensation Act (WCB) etc. Pipeworx will comply with the above mentioned legislations unless those regulations are in contravention of the Acts, Regulations, Statutes, or Codes in the jurisdiction or locality where the work is being performed.
The set objectives for the Pipeworx Crane and Rigging program are:
Achieving Zero incidents during lifting operations that cause injury to personnel or pose a threat to operational integrity.
Equipment and Operator quality strategy that includes a detailed equipment inspection program and local/national certification system.
Consistent approach to manage change and communicate information.
Pipeworx’s Managed Contractors will:
Take part in appropriate training programs.
Report unsafe or hazardous conditions.
Operate hoisting equipment safely.
Select and use appropriate rigging.
Assess lift specifics to determine lift classification.
Create an appropriate lift plan for the lift classification.
Designate a competent person for inspection of all machinery and equipment prior to each use and
ensure safe operating conditions.
Conduct/document a daily Inspection.
Update Crane log books prior to use.
Repair any deficiencies before continuing use.
Ensure appropriate ground surveys are conducted and communicated.
Have current structural certification and mechanical inspection certificates for all equipment prior to use.
Verify training, competency and certification of all Crane Operators.
Verify training and competency of Riggers.
Complete audit and documentation requirements.
Ensure accurate calculation of load weight, center of gravity and maximum swing radius has been
determined for each lift.
